Sticker artwork: cut line, bleed and safe area, done for your shop
Sticker shops want your artwork as vector or as a bitmap of at least 300 pixels per inch, with bleed past the edge and, depending on the shop, a cut line. Some shops draw the cut line for you, while others, and your own cutting machine, read it from your file. We rebuild the artwork as closed shapes in named groups, build a closed cut line named the way your shop expects, set bleed and safe area to your shop’s numbers, and list every setting in a one-page report.

If you run your own print-and-cut machine, the software reads the name of the cut line. Roland’s VersaWorks needs a spot color named CutContour, and its manual says the name is case-sensitive. Mimaki’s RasterLink7 needs a name that starts with CutContour, with letters or numbers allowed after it.
Details on drawing one yourself: How do I make a cut line for stickers?
What we deliver
- Vector artwork in named groups. Every part has a name and every filled shape is closed, so your shop or your designer can recolor one part without touching the rest. The AI’s edges, letters and shapes are rebuilt and corrected, with fixes listed in your delivery note.
- A closed cut line. One closed path per sticker, stroke only, no fill, in a spot color named the way your shop or machine needs. Tell us the shop. The default name is CutContour.
- Bleed and safe area set to your shop’s numbers, since the shops above disagree. If you don’t know your shop’s numbers, the report says which values we used and marks them “check with your printer”.
- Text converted to outlines in the print file.
- A one-page print report with color mode, cut line, bleed and line weights.
- Editable source files (AI, SVG, PDF), the SVG with named parts, and PNG, all included, with logo variants for logos.
What we don't do
- White-ink layers for clear, holographic or metallic materials. These need their own setup, which depends on your printer’s software.
- Layout of many stickers on a sheet, unless you order each design as its own image.
- Guess your shop’s rules. If a number can’t be read from the file, the report says “check with your printer”.

Quoted when you upload
Printer art fees: often $35–75 per hour (who says so)
Dreality: one fixed price, shown when you upload
The hardest part of the image sets the price, and it’s shown when you upload. A different sticker design is a different image. If your shop rejects the file because of the file itself within 30 days, send us their note and we fix it free.
When you don't need us
If your image is a clean PNG of at least 300 PPI at the sticker’s size, several shops above take it as is. Some will draw the cut line for you. Run the free check to confirm.
300 ppi
OK
At 3 inches wide this image works out to about 300 pixels per inch, which is enough.
