Short answers on how an order works, what you get, and what happens if something goes wrong. If your question isn’t here, write to hello@dreality.studio.
Ordering and payment
When am I charged, and what is the proof?
You aren’t charged until you approve the proof. When you submit an order, the payment is held, not spent. Your first proof arrives within 24 hours. It’s a watermarked preview of your own image, with a path view and a 200% detail view, and it doesn’t include the source files. When you approve, you tick off spelling, colors, size and print method. The payment is then taken and the files are released for download.
What if I don’t like the proof?
You can ask for changes in up to two rounds. List everything in one go, because items added later count as the next round. If it still isn’t right, cancel the order and the held payment is released. Cancelling more than two orders with the same email address or payment method means later orders are charged when you submit them. See the terms.
When does the 24 hours start?
Your first proof is due within 24 hours of the moment you submit your order. If you chose to have a sharper working copy made first, the 24 hours start when you confirm that copy. Weekends and holidays don’t pause the clock. After you approve the proof, you can download right away.
What does it cost?
The price is set by the hardest part of your image and is shown when you upload. If we misjudge, we carry the difference.
| Tier | Price | New customer, first order |
|---|---|---|
| Flat logo & wordmark | $19 | $10 |
| Badge & mascot | $29 | $15 |
| Gradient & complex | $39 | $20 |
| Detailed illustration | $59–79, quoted when you upload | Not included |
| Photo | From $59, priced by a person after upload | — |
| Small change after delivery | $5 | — |
Editable source files and all formats are included, with no extra charge.
How does payment work?
You pay when you submit the order, by PayPal or any card (no PayPal account needed). The amount is held, not spent: it is used only when you approve the proof. If you cancel before approving, it is released back to your account, and anything unused can be refunded. Your first image costs less, from $10.
What does “New customer: first order” mean?
Your first order costs less: $10, $15 or $20 for the first three tiers. It’s available once per email address and payment method, and doesn’t apply to Detailed illustration.
Can I get a refund?
Anything you paid for and haven’t used can be refunded. A held payment comes back to you if you cancel before approving the proof. After you approve, fixes are free for 7 days (our mistakes) and 30 days (printer rejections of the file), and if we can’t fix a covered problem, what you spent on that order comes back to you. Design changes aren’t covered. Details are on the refunds page.
What you get
What files will I get?
Editable source files and all delivered formats (AI, SVG, PDF and PNG); the SVG opens with named groups. For logos, you also get variants (full color, black, white, icon only, wordmark) and a color table. Every order includes a one-page print report and a delivery note that lists what we fixed. Files are built for the print method you choose, such as screen printing, stickers, Cricut or vinyl, laser, DTF or DTG, promo items or web.
Can I edit the file myself later?
Yes. Layers are named things like “text”, “icon” and “background”, and colors are set up as swatches. To change a color in Illustrator, select one shape in that color, choose Select, Same, Fill Color, then pick a new color. Your lettering is redrawn as shapes, exactly as it looks in your image. If a close open-source font exists, we add a separate editable text layer for typing new words later, and the delivery note names the font and says it is not an exact match. A small change that you’d rather not do yourself costs $5.
What happens with fonts?
Print files have text converted to outlines, which is what printers ask for. We redraw the lettering in your logo as shapes, exactly as it looks in your image, so the letters in the file match your design. If a close open-source font exists (for example one under the SIL Open Font License), the editable source also has a separate text layer, only for typing new words later. The delivery note names that font and says it is not an exact match for the lettering in your logo. We don’t put commercial fonts in your delivery unless we’re licensed to share them. If you need an exact commercial font, send us your own licensed copy.
What does “check with your printer” mean in the report?
Some requirements can’t be read from a file, such as bleed or what a particular press can hold. We don’t mark those as passed. The report lists what we checked and what to ask your printer.
Special cases
What if my image is a photo?
You choose how to handle it. We can turn it into Line art or a Flat illustration (4–8 colors). It works with every print method, and it looks like an illustration, not a photo. Or we keep the photo as a print-ready bitmap and redraw the text and graphics around it. Bitmaps suit full-color printing, DTG or DTF, labels, posters and web. They don’t suit screen printing, vinyl or laser cutting. You confirm that you have the right to use the photo, including any person in it.
What if my image is small or blurry?
The upload check tells you when an image is too small to rebuild well. You get three choices: make a sharper working copy (free, with up to two retries), upload a larger file, or continue with the one you have. A sharper working copy may slightly change fine details, so you look at it and decide before we use it.
Is it just an auto-trace?
No. An auto-trace follows pixels and stops there. We redraw your artwork as clean, editable vector shapes, fix the flaws in the source image, set the file up for your print method and check it against printers’ published requirements. You approve a proof before you pay.
After delivery
What if my printer rejects the file?
Send us the printer’s note, as an email or a screenshot, within 30 days of delivery. We change the file to meet what the note says, free. This holds even if you didn’t tell us the requirement when you ordered. Without a printer’s note, we treat the request as an ordinary change. The button on your order page closes automatically after 30 days.
What do the 7-day free fixes cover?
For 7 days after delivery we fix anything that differs from the proof you approved or stops the file from printing: a file that won’t open, a missing format or variant we promised, or a problem our print check should have caught. New colors, new text or a new layout are design changes. We tell you the price before we start.
Your files and privacy
How long do you keep my files?
Files uploaded for the free print check are deleted after 24 hours. Order files are kept for 45 days after delivery, so download your copy. Read the full privacy policy. We don’t show your work publicly without your written permission.
What can’t you do?
We don’t take orders that obviously copy a well-known brand’s logo or wordmark. We don’t make embroidery stitch files or pad-printing plates. We prepare the artwork for the person who does. Very fine textures such as pencil grain or engraved shading are simplified rather than copied pixel for pixel. We keep paths at their true size, so cutter or laser width compensation stays in your cutting software.
